  1. I have to question the framing of the argument in the article. Rail vs motorways is +/- public vs private. Most cars are privately owned (with the motorway an unstated public subsidy) vs most rail is publically owned. In Neoliberal ideology private = good and public = bad. Thus for the NeoLibtards (= neo-liberal retard) it is self evident that one defunds railways. The fact that most railways are low/zero carbon cuts no ice – for the neolibtards it all comes down to public vs private.
