Last week, EiD mentioned World Sustainable Energy Days and the various conferences held within the overall event. It is good to focus on one specific element – the young researchers programme. The work of that generation is going to help us achieve our 2050 objectives and so it is important that we give all the support possible. We cannot thank the organisers of WSED enough for this initiative.
The conference “WSED next” offers a platform for presenting the work of young researchers and for interaction with experts and decision makers from industry and institutions.
Young researchers (born after 1978) are invited to submit contributions. The deadline is 10 October 2013. The WSED next conference focuses on biomass and energy efficiency in buildings. A high-level scientific committee will select papers for oral or poster presentation. Rod Janssen of EiD is on the committee.
The organiser of the WSED, the OÖ Energiesparverband, will cover the costs for accommodation, meals, participation and local transport for up to 60 selected participants for 3 conference days (arrival: 25 February, departure: 28 February). Submissions are invited from any scientific field (e.g. technology & engineering, economic and social sciences, law, arts, etc.) and must be in English only. The best contributions will be honoured with the “Young Researchers Award for Biomass” and the “Young Researchers Award for Energy Efficiency”: The researcher(s) and the respective institute will each receive 1,000 Euro as prize money.
After the conference, a conference book will be published by Springer (with papers which were selected for oral presentations).
The WSED next conference in 2014 builds upon two very successful events (held in 2012 and 2013), each of them attracting contributors from more than 25 countries.
