Videos of the week

They may not qualify for the upcoming Academy Awards, but this has been a good week for new videos on aspects of sustainable energy.

• Walt Patterson

No one has analysed the electricity system more thoroughly than Walt Patterson, Associate Fellow at Chatham House and Visiting Fellow at the University of Sussex. Walt recently wrote a working paper entitled Beyond the Fire Age that is a must read. His latest book, now under way, will be called Beyond The Fire Age: What We Do, How We Do It, How We Can Do Better.  When Walt writes or talks about energy, you better pay attention.  On February 11th, Walt gave a seminar on Beyond the Fire Age at University College London.  Check out the video.  You won’t be disappointed. And, also, check out his website.  And have a look at his 1999 book, Transforming Electricity, that is in the EiD Closet.

• eceee

On 4 February 2014, eceee held a full day ecodesign seminar entitled “From products to systems”.  The event was held in cooperation with CLASP, the Swedish Energy Agency and Fraunhofer ISI with support from Energifonden and the Representation of the State of Baden-Württemberg to the EU. The seminar offered a full day of discussions and presentations aimed at better understanding the system approaches currently applied under the EU Ecodesign and Energy Labelling policies. Participants discussed new areas for implementation and solutions to overcome the limitations and barriers to these approaches. The discussion explored possible interactions with other policy instruments.  The videos of the presentations are available on the eceee website.
