Paris pushes innovative solutions

The City of Paris announced this week that it had associated with the Paris Region Innovation Lab and the Paris Climate Agency to launch a call for projects dedicated to energy efficiency and to experiment with innovative solutions.

“Many real estate players (museums, social landlords, businesses, public institutions) have already given their approval for a provision of their buildings as a testing ground for future recipients of the call for projects”, indicates the City of Paris, stating that “winners will be selected by a committee of elected officials, experts and partners of the call.”

In addition, plans call for projects to receive possible funding from a Paris innovation fund, created by the City of Paris and OSEO, the organisation that funds innovation in small and medium sized enterprises.

The city already renovates 4500 units each year and has a plan to renovate 600 schools.

Innovation will focus on information and control technologies including sensors, solutions for monitoring consumption, meters called “smart” lighting systems, measurement tools and treatment for the air quality or equipment related to the management of renewable energy and heat.

Selected candidates will be allowed to “experiment” for a maximum of 12 months under the programme.
