Edvard Munch’s painting, The Scream, will soon be sold by auction and is expected to reach a sizable sum. The Norwegian’s painting (there are actually four versions of The Scream) is one of the most well recognised globally. The Norwegian businessman, Petter Olsen, whose family has owned the painting since 1937, recently gave his view of it: “’The Scream’ for me shows the horrifying moment when man realises his impact on nature and the irreversible changes that he has initiated, making the planet increasingly uninhabitable.”
While EiD hopes that readers appreciate this remarkable work of art, we all join in averting that impact on nature and the irreversible changes that make us all scream.
